[𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐒𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐒𝐞𝐟] June 8, 2025 | US-China Trade Talks Resume in London, Market Responds

China's Vice Premier He Lifeng has arrived in London to attend the first round of the newly established US–China Economic and Trade Consultation Mechanism. The US delegation includes Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and USTR Jamieson Greer.

Formal talks are set to begin June 9, marking the first high-level face-to-face trade discussions since tariff escalations resumed in early 2025.

Meanwhile, markets are responding:

  • Industrial silicon futures rose 2.1% on expectations of improved trade conditions

  • Spot prices followed upward

  • WTI crude gained 1.9% last week, its first positive weekly close in three weeks

These developments suggest rising investor optimism ahead of negotiations that could impact the global flows of energy, metals, and key industrial materials.
