Commodity trade intermediaries exist at various levels. Discover which type you belong to.

In today’s information age, as an intermediary, your actions not only affect yourself but can also impact others, families, and even entire companies. It is undeniable that intermediaries play a crucial role in the business chain. However, if intermediaries irresponsibly spread information, the consequences can be severe. Below, I will elaborate on the dangers of irresponsible behavior by intermediaries, the potential risks of false information, and how to improve oneself to become a truly excellent intermediary.

Irresponsible Behavior of Intermediaries

Intermediaries handle a large amount of information daily, and many are accustomed to simply copying and pasting messages without thinking before forwarding them. This irresponsible behavior can lead to serious consequences. For example, you might see messages in a fan group about the availability of sugar, crude oil, electrolytic copper, or corn, and forward them without verification. Such behavior is not only disrespectful to others but also neglects professional ethics.

The authenticity of information is crucial. You need to ask yourself a few questions: Have you actually seen these goods? Do you know the real source of these goods? Just because a friend mentioned there’s a batch of goods, does that mean it’s genuinely his? These questions may seem simple, but they are fundamental steps to ensure the authenticity of the information. Just as seeing items on a store counter doesn’t mean they belong to you, unverified information shouldn’t be casually spread.

The Dangers of False Information

The spread of false information can cause significant misunderstandings and financial losses. In a previous video, I mentioned that one of my followers lost 240 million yuan due to false information. This is not a small amount; for any person, family, or company, it’s a tremendous blow. What does 240 million yuan represent? It could be several years of profit for a company or a lifetime of savings for a family.

False information not only leads to financial losses but also damages the intermediary's credibility. Your clients trust you because they believe the information you provide is genuine and reliable. Once you spread false information, your reputation will be severely damaged, and you may even lose your clients.

Intermediaries Need to Have Discerning Ability

As an intermediary, you need to have a strong discerning ability. You cannot just be a courier of information; you must also act as a filter. Every piece of information you spread must be thoroughly verified. You need to have your own standards and verification methods instead of following the crowd.

For individuals, losing 30,000 to 50,000 yuan can be significant; for families, tens of thousands might be a lifetime’s savings; for companies, several million or even tens of millions could be their entire cash flow. Any incorrect information can cause unbearable losses. Therefore, intermediaries must be responsible for the information they spread.

Levels of Intermediaries

Intermediaries can be classified into several levels:

Beginner Intermediaries: They only know how to simply copy and paste text messages without any verification. These intermediaries are the most irresponsible, and the information they spread is often unreliable.
Intermediate Intermediaries: They can create decent-looking documents, and the authenticity of the information is slightly improved, but there are still many loopholes. Ordinary people may find it difficult to distinguish, but experienced individuals can tell at a glance.
Advanced Intermediaries: They personally visit ports and factories, conduct on-site inspections, and oversee everything from factory inspections to loading. These intermediaries not only understand the source of the goods but can also ensure the authenticity and reliability of the information. They are the ones who can truly succeed in business.

Continuous Learning and Self-Improvement

For intermediaries, continuous learning and self-improvement are essential. You need to acquire more professional knowledge, understand market dynamics, and be familiar with industry rules. Only then can you enhance your discerning ability and judgment.

Moreover, intermediaries need to cultivate their professional ethics and sense of responsibility. Don’t focus solely on earning intermediary profits while neglecting the authenticity of the information and the interests of your clients. Uphold your professional ethics and be responsible for the information you spread and your clients.

In summary, the irresponsible behavior of intermediaries and the spread of false information can have severe consequences. To become a truly excellent intermediary, you need to possess strong discerning abilities, continuously learn and improve yourself, and ensure the information you spread is genuine and reliable. Only in this way can you remain competitive in a fierce market, gaining the trust and respect of your clients. I hope every intermediary can heed this advice, improve themselves, and become a leader in the industry.
